About four to five years ago I stumbled upon some youtube videos by a crazy Australian called Geoff Lawton. He introduced me to a new way of looking at the world through the lens of permaculture. It was pre-retirement and we had just purchased 93 acres of rainforest in Fiji. I read all I could and absorbed as much as I could through youtube and other social media platforms prior to our move. Of course when faced with such a huge undertaking nothing quite prepares you like reality. We’ve been slowly applying what I’ve been learning, had some successes and some not so successful, and gradually the plan for our farm is taking shape. Geoff offers a 28 week online course in Permaculture Design (PDC) and this year I’m ready to commit. I’ve registered and the course started this week. I’m looking forward to learning lots, challenging my brain, and trying new things our on the farm.

I just listened to “Ruth Stout’s method of gardening, one of the methods of permaculture.
It certainly alleviates alot of the hard work involved with gardening, by using the hay in the beds. Good luck on your learning curve! and being able to apply all the information you learn for your farm.
