Happy Birthday Arthur

We celebrated Arthur’s 57^th birthday this week by taking a ferry ride from the main island, Viti Levu, to Vanua Levu where our property is located. We were up very early to catch a bus to the ferry dock. The ferry left the dock at 8am and arrived at Nabouwalu at 12 noon. The sea was a bit rough but we had a fairly easy trip. We didn’t spend much time on deck as it was very windy.

We were able to hire a truck to drive us to Arthur’s family farm, Waidranudranu, where family were expecting us. Arthur’s brother John and his family are all well and excited to have us home. News of our arrival traveled quickly and the next day Arthur’s sister Kinesi and her family arrived to welcome us home.

Today we spent the day at our property. We’ve located a spot to set up a temporary camp and Arthur and one of the young boys cleared the area of underbrush and trees. Tomorrow our crew from Suva arrive and we’ll move over to Dogoni and spend our first night there.
