Just loving the Fijian food

I can’t believe that we’ve been in Fiji over a week already. The weather has been wet, wet, and more wet but thankfully not too hot. We’ve enjoyed connecting with Arthur’s family in Suva. We’ve been staying with Arthur’s cousin Tomasi and his family. They have out done themselves with preparing great food every night. We celebrated our 33rd anniversary this week with a very special dinner with family.

Aside from enjoying family and food we’ve been coordinating the shipment of our sea can from Whitehorse to Vancouver – many thanks to Marc for being our Whitehorse agent. The sea can left Whitehorse this past Wednesday days ago and everything is looking good for it to leave Vancouver at the end of August. We should receive it in Suva by the end of September.

In the mean time we’ve been purchasing the items we need to set up a temporary camp in the middle of a rainforest. Arthur’s family are super excited to be included in the planning and Ili, Nelli, Emosi, and Samu have agreed to help us set up our temporary home, clear some of the land, and start planting sandlewood seedlings and taro.

Hi Karen, Whitehorse must seem very far away to you these days! And, I guess it is. Glad to see and hear that you’re enjoying yourselves. We are starting to get into Fall weather now and had a light frost last night – should make for some excellent cranberry picking. So, I was wondering if I could use you as a reference check? I’ve applied for an 18 month term position with Health and Social as a Quality Improvement Analyst working on an initiative for implementing chronic conditions management in the Territory. There’s a lot about the job that looks like a good fit for me and I’ve taken some courses in the quality improvement area, and am interested in learning more. I will explain that you’re in Fiji and would need any questions emailed. I know it was a long time ago that you were my boss, but I probably need to give them more than just Karen G as a reference. Thanks, Karen – I really appreciate it. Christine Date: Sat, 22 Aug 2015 22:42:17 +0000 To: christine.todd@hotmail.com

Hi Christine, thanks for the weather update. It’s 25 and very windy today. We’re at Arthur’s brother’s farm today right on the ocean side. Enjoying the time with family. Yes you can use me as a reference and email is best although depending on our network reception there may be some delays.
