Its been just just a month since we planted the mushroom logs. We were wondering how long it was going to take before we had mushroom and surprise, today when Arthur went to vent the tent covering the mushroom garden, eight of the seventy-five logs are growing mushrooms. We had stopped checking on them everyday having decided that just like a watched pot never boils mushrooms will grow in their own time. We probably could have harvested these a couple of days ago. We have more than we need for a sizeable dinner. I’m not sure what we’ll do if all 75 logs start to grow. Mushrooms are not part of the local diet so we’ll have to check to see if the restaurants in Savusavu would like them. In the meantime mushroom stirfry, mushroom omelettes, mushrooms in stews, mushroom pasta etc are on the menu. Please send me your recipes.
