Kitchen Improvements

It may be a few years before I get my dream kitchen but in the mean time we’ve made a few improvements to the kitchen. The floor is now painted which makes it much easier to keep clean. We’ve added a few more shelves, which has allowed me to unpack a few more of my kitchen things from Canada and has provided much more room for me to fill with my home canning. I’ve also had my Singer Featherweight sewing machine out and made some curtains to keep the dust and dirt off everything. I’m a very happy girl!

I noticed the quilts hung in your last posting, and now the curtains – seems you are slowly falling into some old habits Karen. I have to say that following your chronicles brings back memories of living in Ghana and getting to know Brian. To an outsider, it may seem odd where life can take us, but there is reason once we scratch below the surface.

It’s great to be sharing in your adventures again. My latest (I guess) is that we got a puppy 3 months ago, which has brought much laughter and balance back into our home after being petless for some time. At 5 months he is pushing 55 lbs, and has us all catering to his quirks. I will have to email you a couple photos…

Take care of each other, and pass on a hello to Aurthur from me. Happy 2018!!
    Kim

Good to hear from you Kim,

Yes old habits are hard to break but we’ve been so busy with the farm that I’ve not had much time to sew or quilt. As well being on solar means that I have to be careful how we use the power we have, the fridge and freezer take priority.

55 lbs at 5 months, that must be some puppy. What kind of breed? Looking forward to seeing pictures.

      Take care

Looks great Karen, practical and tasteful at the same time. So nice to follow your blog. I am in the process of painting the upstairs room, the walls have not been painted since 1993! We are still a full house with Yataya and Shadunjen here. And, oh yes, a bunny. Keep creating, Pam.

    Hello Karen,
The curtains sure do make a colorful difference to your kitchen and I am sure a much cleaner atmosphere. I didn’t reply to your last blog, but it sounds like you have been very very busy! I imagine your own transport makes a big difference to your schedules and achieving deadlines. Look at all those preserves!
We are keeping busy here at home, and Pinetree Quilters are off to a rolling start for the New Year. Several projects are under way or will be shortly – Quilts of Valor – quilt being made, a Round Robin project for about 12 people has started, among other projects. At least you have your sewing machine out now – a good start – suppose you have a number of projects you want to work on as well. I am working on a BQ No.1 quilt – have the 12 squares made -just have to lay them out and decide on an arrangement.
We have lots of snow here – winter has been a bit odd – warm and cold- and freezing! It is a beautiful winter wonderland at the moment!
    Bye for now
    Dorothy
