Today Ateca and Siana helped me sort through my canning cupboard. Although in recent years I haven’t been canning or preserving as much as I did, my canning cupboard is still impressive. We hauled out all the jars and spread them out over the rec room floor to sort into what gets to go to Fiji and what gets redistributed to my kids. There were a few jars that had the seals broken so a few will be emptied into the compost. The oldest jam we found was Blueberry jam made in 1994, still perfectly sealed. My absolutely favourite jam is Plum Spice with Cranberry Raspberry coming a very close second. Although Rosehip Spice or maybe the Peach Mango Papaya – its so hard to decide, they’re all so yummy. We set aside a sampling of all kinds of preserves for each of my kids and I still had a good stash to take with us. I hope the kids will remember me and the good times we had making all the jams and preserves. I know that Arthur’s relatives in Fiji will appreciate all the new flavours.

What a productive day!!! I can’t believe that we have moved some of those jams from Vancouver to Whitehorse and now to Fiji ! May they rest in their new canning cuboard and be enjoyed by all.
